Adventure: Needed

It’s Friday – I want to lighten up a little.

I’ve lived in Lawrence for 6 years now. That seems unreal to me, and it’s the longest I’ve lived anywhere as an adult. The house I live in has been my home for the longest stretch of time too, and while I love it, I get restless. Because that’s me, and that’s what I do. So I’m caught in a constant debate with myself about buying a cute little house or cutting ties with all commitments and living in a vintage trailer. Yep… this is my new obsession.

When I look at the photos online, I can’t help but fantasize about how much fun it would be to travel just with the dogs on the road, exploring. This adventure involves me taking my sewing machine to keep up with my Etsy orders, lots of books, making a sleeping area into a giant dog bed, and cutting my ties with commitment {because that’s the only thing that really scares me!}. Ahh… the thought of meeting new people, maybe writing about it, with nowhere to be. I am feeling the pull to have an adventure.

To do it, I obviously need to lighten my load and sell most of my stuff. And to be honest, nothing is more appealing to me at this point. There’s a sense of freedom for me in owning only what I need. And I own a whole lot more than that right now. There just may be a big old-fashioned garage sale when the urge gets stronger and my responsibilities harder to deny any longer!

So, I’ll dream about what my trailer will look like for now, and maybe someday I’ll get my chance.

Let me share with you my inspiration {I have an entirely too developed board on Pinterest as well. Find me at nicki_van.}

Looking at these, do you get the bug to hit the road too? I’d love to know if I have some friends out there I could stop by and visit. Maybe sit around a campfire together?

  1. I think that’s a great idea! We often have discussions about getting a bigger house, one day, but i’d rather live in a 2,000 sq ft house and then travel more often!
