Hi guys! I’m Nicole, and I’m so glad that you’re here.

The title of my blog “Long Way” is an homage to my favorite Dixie Chicks song: Taking the Long Way. The lyrics describe the course my life has taken, especially:

Well, I never seem to do it like anybody else
Maybe someday, someday I’m gonna settle down
If you ever want to find me I can still be found
Taking the long way

I’ve always been sort of the black sheep in my family. After growing up in small town Iowa, I married young, but that was where my path diverged from what was expected and trended toward more of an adventure. When love failed me, friends came through as did my will to carve a new life for myself.

So that “new life” is what I write about here. I’m not trying to FIND my way – at least not anymore. I’m creating the life I want and I’m choosing what I want that life to include and exclude. I’ll tell you all about it… just keep reading.
